Silver Pines
Release: Oct. 8 Platform(s): PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2 Link: Steam
For those in the market for a game that combines survival horror with a metroidvania, you might want to add Silver Pines to your wishlist on Checkpoint. In Wych Elm Games’ debut title you take on the role of a private investigator tasked with finding Eddie Velvet, a musician who went missing in the mostly deserted town of Silver Pines.
According to the developers, they drew heavy inspiration from titles such as Resident Evil (just look at that item select screen) and Silent Hill, with some Twin Peaks sprinkled in for good measure. The game is graphically interesting too, featuring rotoscoped animations for the main character.
